Dr. Wafik Moustafa, Chairman of the British Arab Network, has been interviewed on France 24 Arabic TV about illegal immigration into Britain.

Dr. Moustafa said:

“I agree with Prime Minister David Cameron that the UK cannot become a safe haven for illegal immigrants. Britain has a history of being compassionate to those who suffer persecution in their country of origin but we simply cannot have illegal immigration. Clearly the root causes of the illegal movement of people from places such as North Africa to Europe have to be tackled. Criminal gangs who are involved in human trafficking must be brought to justice. The UK and the US must play a greater part in assisting countries where there is disorder to develop in-country refugee camps, security and good governance.”

Calais migrant crisis: Cameron warns UK is ‘no safe haven’

The UK will not become a “safe haven” for migrants in Calais, David Cameron has warned, after hundreds continued their attempts to cross from France.

The prime minister warned illegal immigrants would be removed, as migrants told the BBC they remained determined to reach the UK.

Mr Cameron was speaking after people gathered for a third night at fencing at the Channel Tunnel freight terminal.

Over 3,500 attempts have been made this week to get into the tunnel

New fencing supplied by the UK government is being installed in Calais and Eurotunnel said it would protect the platform area where vehicles are loaded on to the train shuttles to “stop the migrants… trying to jump on to the train shuttles there”.
